KING 5 NBC Television Questionnaire

1. One third of President Bush’s tax cuts in the last three year have gone to people earning an average of $1.2 million annually, according to report by the Congressional Budget Office. If elected, would you vote to make the tax cuts permanent or let them expire at the end of the decade? Why?

I favor completely eliminating these. I believe they are only for the rich. I do believe that the tax cut

should be more for the middle class. I also believe in a flat tax. My philosophy comes from my

Religion, Islam, is that every thing belongs to God and that wealth is therefore held by human beings

In trust and those wealthy individuals who are getting wealthier by this tax cut should help more people in
need who are depending on the State or Federal government.

2. Representatives in the next Congress may have a chance to vote on a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. How would you vote on that and why?

I would say a Muslim marriage is between a man and a woman. As a doctor between xx and xy

chromosomes? However I believe the definition will never have enough votes to pass by the Federal

government. It is a waste of time and it is better to leave it to the states.

3. Some in Congress would like to expand the North American Free Trade Agreement to South America. Do you support this? Why or why not?

I don’t support the expansion of NAFTA indeed I support eliminating NAFTA. As it happens our

companies are moving out of the United States because of the cheap labor in an unfriendly environment. We should give incentives to

companies to stay in the Unites States. At the same time the Labor Unions should be more reasonable and

carry some burden and not simply use their political muscle.

4. Abortion law continues to be an issue in Congress. Do you support further restrictions on abortion, further liberalization or the status quo? Please explain.

Abortion in my point of view as a Muslim is morally wrong and it should be allowed when the mother’s health is in

danger. I strongly believe in prevention of pregnancy and adoption of the babies if they are unwanted. So

further restrictions are warranted at the present time.

5.If there were only one piece of legislation that you were able to get passed if elected, what would it be?

This is just a dream as I do not believe this will pass now or in the near future. That is elimination of foreign

aid to Israel, Egypt and Jordan. As the direct and indirect aid amounts to $5 billion a year to Israel and $2 billion

a year to Egypt and Jordan just to keep them holding peace treaties with Israel. As if the

American taxpayers are responsible for this ridiculous handout which goes only to the top government and

military officials. By cutting this aid we will pressure Israel to compromise on a Palestinian State and the

return of Palestinian refugees interested in going back to Israel from where they were expelled in

1948, 1967 and 1973. Or my proposal to establish one state which includes Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip, where Jews Muslims and

Christians can live in a secular united country like ours.
