A former North Dakota physician says he will leave for Damascus, Syria,
Friday to aid Palestinians injured during the Israeli invasion of Lebanon. Dr.
Mohammad Said, who formerly practiced in Fargo and Hankinson, N.D., said hell travel
first to Jordan, then try to cross the border to the Syrian
capital. Said now practices medicine in Sundance, Wyo.
"I was told that there were thousands of injured and wounded civilians and others who
are being transported from Beirut to Damascus," Said noted. "So I
will be trying to help as a doctor with a Palestinian background and as an American
who believes in humanity," he said. Said plans to spend about 10
days in Damascus, helping to treat those injured or wounded in the fighting, he said.
